About Us
Welcome to the website of the Jersey Canoe Club. The Jersey Canoe Club was formed in 1974 by a small group of canoeing enthusiasts and has grown from strength to strength ever since.
We are a friendly bunch with a real interest in the sport. Our member range from complete novices to expert paddlers. Everyone is welcome at the club, our members are always on hand to offer handy hints or advice to anyone that needs it.
There is some supurb sea kayaking to be enjoyed in and around Jersey. Almost daily throughout the year members are to be found exploring the coastal waters, playing in the tidal races, seeking the thrills of the Atlantic surf or undertaking open crossings to the neighbouring islands and reefs. In addition members have been responsible for a number of major expeditions, away from the island, including the first circumnavigation of Ireland, the West Coast of Svalbard and Greenland.
The Club now has a membership of over 180 members, who have travelled to every continent in pursuit of their hobby, but the home waters still retain their charm and their fascination.
The following pages will reveal some of the delights of paddling in local waters plus areas of related knowledge. Many of the Club's coaches are highly experienced practitioners who are prepared to share some of their experiences and knowledge.
